I paid the participation fee yesterday and bought the shoes today (linked by Kas' request :-)), so almost all of the financial investment is done. Tomorrow I'll start investing my time and endurance - there's a nice bycicle road next to my place, along the river (Danube), perfect for running. By the way, I'm from Szentendre, Hungary.
I'm not completely new to running, I did a couple of marathons in the early 90's, so this is the very moment when I'm about to prove myself I'm still able to do these things I did when I was a teenager. (The attached photo is from 1991, Vienna. Yes, it's snow. No, it's not underwear, it's a real shorts I'm wearing.) I'm now 10 kgs heavier and a lot lazier and I expext both of these things to be gone soon. OK, I'll be glad with -5 kgs. Well, I think I shouldn't be talking about this boring stuff. That's it.
One question: are you serious about this event I copied from Planowane starty?
01.11.2009 maraton, Nowy Jork
Okay, have fun. Thanks for allowing me in here.

Balint, welcome on our blog :-)
OdpowiedzUsuńI'm so happy that we're an international team right now :-)
we our serious about everything we're writing here (even not serious things :-) )
Szia Balu-Balu!
OdpowiedzUsuńGreat that you joined! Good luck with the sockless shoes and self discipline!
"few marathons" - I think you will be back to running shape. Just one thing: promise to wait for me at finish line in Budapest :-)
Who else running in Budapest in September?
Welcome Balint! Do you realize that you've just joined a very "dangerous", fast spreading running sect? :)))
OdpowiedzUsuńHello Balint!
OdpowiedzUsuńRunning is like riding a bicycle, you never forget how to do it :-)
I will be representing out group in New York.
Thankyou thankyou!
OdpowiedzUsuńNew York - wow! That's serious stuff. I had the luck to visit NY and Boston recently (not running at all, just walking a lot) and that's surely a lifetime experience to participate in such an event there.
Two decades ago I ran the Vienna maraton twice and the Venice maraton once. Unforgettable moments. This is part of the reason I restarted running.
Judged from this morining's training, it seems it's really like the muscle cells remember what their ancestors did back then. It was quite "easy" and I was pleasanly tired at the end. I planned to do a 20 minutes session, 10 minutes away from the house and then back, but finally it was 28 minutes. Slightly less then 5 kms, so the time is sortof "awful" but still, this was my first training in this century.
Okay, it's good to be part of this infectious and dangerous sect. I've heard from Kas that you're into gadgets and soon I'll buy a new Nokia and I think I'll also use the sports tracker gadget to see how I'm doing.
ha ha ha - that was quick!
OdpowiedzUsuńOne run in the morning and Balint is already addicted ! ;-)
as Agnieszka wrote: a very "dangerous", fast spreading running sect
OdpowiedzUsuńhahahaha :-)
:-)
OdpowiedzUsuńThe second session this morning seemed to be harder. Same timing, same distance, better weather, louder birds. And I felt more tired at the end.
